This is where a Moonbase begins. A Moonbase is made up of seperately built structures or modules. These modules are built on 48x48 stud baseplates. The 48x48 baseplate provides the foundation for the moonbase.
These baseplates can be purchased
for around $10 USD.
Every Moonbase module is built a certain way and connected with properly aligned corridors. The image to the right will tell you a few things about module and corridor placement.
The yellow shaded areas represent where a module's corridors will connect. The green color represents a corridor's width. If you made a "crossroads" module, it might be shaped something like this.
Finally, the lighter, 4 stud-wide band of gray around the baseplate is a sort of no-build zone.
Aside from the ends of your corridors it's recommended that you leave some space around your module. On a Moonbase layout modules look a lot better if they appear to be seperate structures, only connected by their corridors.

Now that you know what's at the bottom of a Moonbase, you need to find out what you build on it. The next section will show you how connecting corridors will hook your module up with the rest of the Moonbase layout.
